The Story of H.O.P.E Missions
History
Little did Jeff and Julia know what God had planned for them when they started their family on December 9, 2000. Following the disbanding of their church in 2006, they found inspiration in Proverbs 23:23, which states, "Buy the truth; and sell it not," which directed them toward a life of holiness. Embracing this truth, they committed to moving to Axton, VA, to continue attending Bro. Bill Preskitt's church in Martinsville, VA.
The Call
Not long after the Hertzlers moved, God called Jeff to preach. In 2014, a transformative trip to Honduras changed their lives forever. Following this experience, Bro. Preskitt appointed Jeff as Missions Director, a role he faithfully held for 10 years. But Jeff felt that God was calling his family to a deeper dedication to missions. In 2022, during a Missions Conference in Roanoke, VA, Jeff answered the call to full-time mission work.
The Future
Over the next two years, Hertzlers embarked on several mission to Latin America, seeking a place to dedicate their hearts. In 2025, Jeff completed the Intercultural Studies Program (ICS) at Rio Grande Bible College in Edinburgh, TX, which equips missionaries with essential knowledge of Spanish and Latin culture. That fall, God led the Hertzlers back to Honduras, the very country that ignited their passion for missions. Since 2026, they have been serving as active missionaries in the city of Siguatepeque.
